Vande Mataram!
Namaskar, dear readers!
Date: 4th June 2025
Location: Jaffna, Sri Lanka
π A Milestone to Remember
Today marks a powerful moment in my life and mission:
β
150 days of cycling non-stop
β
First time crossing into a foreign country β and that country is Sri Lanka π±π°
What began as a journey of passion and purpose has now crossed international borders β quite literally on two wheels.
The Ferry Ride: From India to Sri Lanka
This morning, I boarded the recently reopened ferry route connecting Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu to Jaffna, Sri Lanka β a historic sea passage once again alive.
It was a challenging trip. The sea was rough, and I struggled with dizziness and fatigue throughout the journey. At times, I feared Iβd be sick. I ended up sleeping for most of the ride to escape the nausea.
But the moment I stepped off the ferry onto Sri Lankan soil β
π All the discomfort vanished.
π₯ I was overwhelmed with emotion β I had made it to another country, powered only by my own legs and an unwavering dream.
First Impressions of Jaffna
Jaffna feels both foreign and familiar β the cultural similarities with South India are unmistakable, yet the atmosphere is distinctly different.
β¨ Cleaner streets
β¨ Less crowd
β¨ Gentle pace of life
The currency here is Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR). A cup of tea costs about 40 LKR, a bit more than in India, but the vibe is warm and welcoming.
Itβs a new rhythm, a new learning curve β but the energy here feels just right.
π 150 Days. One Purpose.
Over the past five months, Iβve cycled through:
βοΈ Scorching sun and heavy rain
ποΈ Bustling cities and quiet forests
π Hunger and exhaustion
π But always, with hope and resilience
Every pedal stroke has carried this mission:
βPedal for Green, Plant for Peace, Donate Blood, Ride for Health.β
I believe a bicycle can change the world β
π One tree, one drop of blood, one healthy habit at a time.
π Thank You for Riding With Me
This journey wouldnβt be possible without your love, encouragement, and support.
If this mission resonates with you:
π Share this story
π Leave a message of support
π Contribute, if you can β every rupee helps fuel the next mile.
π΄ Whatβs Next?
Tomorrow, I begin cycling across Sri Lanka, heading south towards Colombo, where Iβll be participating in awareness events on 11th June.
