Vande Mataram!
Namaskar, dear readers!
A Warm Welcome in Dehu
The last three nights became one of the most heartwarming experiences of my journey. It all began with a simple message on Messenger from Ashesh, a boy from my hometown Lalgola, who has been living near Pune for the past five years. As I was nearing Solapur, his message reached me: “I’m in Pune. Come over.” That was the spark that led to three unforgettable nights under his roof.
When I first stepped into his home in Dehu, I carried a small fear—would I be disturbing them, would they be uncomfortable with my sudden arrival? But those doubts melted away instantly. Instead of treating me like a guest, Ashesh welcomed me like a long-lost brother. His warm smile and genuine hospitality set the tone for days filled with joy, laughter, and shared stories.
Finding a Family Away from Home
Ashesh shares his home with two more Bengalis—Asim from Howrah and Ramesh from Purbamedinipur. The three of them live together in a modest rented house. Life away from Bengal hasn’t been easy for them, but they’ve created a little family of their own in this corner of Maharashtra.
I became the fourth member of their household for three days. Every evening turned into a long adda session—sometimes about my cycling adventures, sometimes about their challenges and dreams. They spoke of struggles at work, the loneliness of being away from home, and the small joys they hold onto. In their company, I felt both the comfort of home and the resilience of those carving a life far away from their roots.
Inspired by the Legacy of Saint Tukaram
Through Ashesh, I met Ajit Rathore, a man deeply connected with Dehu’s culture and history. He became my guide and storyteller, walking me through the narrow lanes and the temples dedicated to the great saint Tukaram.
Listening to Ajit ji narrate Tukaram’s life was like stepping back in time. He spoke of the saint’s devotion, his message of love, and his unwavering faith in humanity. The temples echoed with centuries of prayers, and standing there, I felt humbled. Journeys are not just about roads and destinations—they are about learning, absorbing, and letting inspiration flow into one’s soul. Tukaram’s legacy reminded me why this mission is bigger than myself.
New Connections in Talegaon and Lonavala
After bidding farewell to Dehu, my wheels rolled forward towards Mumbai. In Talegaon, destiny brought me to Advocate Ganjan Khaire, a respected member of the Indo Athletic Society. With fatherly kindness, he not only encouraged me but also introduced me to two more guiding lights—Nitesh Sir and Bharat Varane Sir in Lonavala.
This chain of connections reminded me once again of the invisible thread of humanity that ties people together. Strangers become friends, friends become family, and family gives you the strength to ride on.
Grateful Encounters at Chandralok Hotel
By evening, I reached Lonavala where a new blessing awaited me. Thanks to the efforts of Nitesh Sir and Bharat Sir, I was offered shelter at Chandralok Hotel, graciously arranged by Vrinda Ganatra Ma’am of Lonavala Nagar Palika.
It was here that I also had the honor of meeting Anish Ganatra Sir. We sat together for a long conversation—about journeys, dreams, and the importance of endurance. His words carried the weight of experience, and his blessings gave me renewed energy for the road ahead. In every smile, in every word of encouragement, I felt the universe telling me: “Keep moving, you are not alone.”
A Cyclist’s Bond with Bharat Sir
Among all the wonderful encounters, my time with Bharat Sir was the most memorable. There is an unspoken bond that cyclists share. The moment two riders sit down, time dissolves into endless stories—of roads conquered, challenges faced, and the freedom that only a bicycle can bring.
We laughed, we shared our experiences, and we found joy in the simple fact that two wheels can connect lives. Tomorrow morning, Bharat Sir has promised to take me on a cycling tour around the beauty of Lonavala. I know those few hours will add yet another golden page to this journey before I continue towards Mumbai.
Whispering to the City of Dreams
As I prepare to rest tonight, my heart feels heavy with gratitude—for Ashesh and his friends, for Ajit Rathore’s stories, for Advocate Ganjan Khaire’s kindness, for the blessings of Vrinda Ma’am and Anish Sir, and for the brotherhood of Bharat Sir.
With every pedal, I realize that this journey is not just about reaching a city, but about discovering people, kindness, and faith in humanity.
And now, as the night deepens, I whisper to myself with a smile:
✨ “Mumbai Meri Jaan… I am coming!” 🚴♂️
