Vande Mataram!

Namaskar, dear readers!

By Prasanjit Das (Jojo Dada)

A New Day, A New Road

Cycling through India isn’t just about covering distance—it’s about collecting moments, meeting strangers who become friends, and discovering the subtle gifts the road offers.

I began my ride from Dharmapuri in the early morning, heading towards Hosur. Google Maps offered two choices: a longer 99 km route via Krishnagiri, and a shorter 84 km stretch along National Highway 844. I took the shorter one, and it proved to be the right decision.

Cool Weather and Smooth Progress

The sun took its time to rise, which made the morning ride pleasant. I maintained a comfortable pace of 15–16 km/h, stopping occasionally for tea and finishing the last of my packed biscuits—small joys that make the journey lighter.

Tea, Kindness, and an Unexpected Sponsor

Around noon, just as I was about to take a break, a lorry driver waved me down. His name was Salim, a regular on the Salem–Indore route. As we shared a cup of tea, I told him about my mission. Moved by the story, he insisted on sponsoring my lunch. Moments like these reaffirm my faith in humanity—proof that the road provides not only direction but also compassion.

A Quiet Nap Under a Tree

Later, I found a small eatery where I enjoyed a plate of paratha and kurma. Nearby was a tea stall where I recharged my phone and bought water. The shade and breeze were so comforting, I ended up taking a short nap—completely unplanned, but very much needed. When I woke up, it was already 2:43 PM.

Final Stretch and a Warm Welcome

After resolving a few quick tasks over a video call, I resumed the ride. The road ahead included a manageable ghat section, and I was soon closing in on Hosur. At a tea stall near a highway junction, I met two local lorry drivers. After hearing my story, they offered me a place to stay for the night. With Bangalore just 50 km away, I gladly accepted their invitation.

A Small Blessing on the Road

At one point during the afternoon, I spotted a ₹20 note lying on the road. It may sound insignificant, but on a journey like this, small surprises like these feel symbolic—like blessings from the road itself.

Next Stop: Bangalore

Reaching Bangalore marks a major milestone. It’s not just another city—it’s a checkpoint for important upgrades and rest. Here’s what I plan to do:

These essentials will prepare me for the next leg of this global cycling mission.

Join the Movement

This journey isn’t just mine—it’s a shared mission. Through every kilometer, I spread four messages close to my heart:

Ride a bicycle to stay healthy
Plant trees to save the planet
Donate blood to save lives
Walk the path of peace
